SOCIAL SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Social Service Series). BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITIONS ABOVE GS-5 GRADE LEVEL:
GS-8:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service in a program of direct social welfare services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers. GS-7:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level in the Federal service in a program of direct social welfare services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers OR 1 full academic year of graduate education in social sciences (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or equivalent). GS-6:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service in a program of direct social welfare services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers. Specialized experience is experience in a program of direct Social Welfare Services that required the application of program policy and operations knowledge in providing social welfare services and/or assisting social workers. Examples of specialized experience may include familiarity with standard case management principles and procedures, and understanding of importance of the social service process with American Indians and Tribes to create a social environment in their communities that emphasizes safety and well-being for all children and adults, promote family stability, and value an individual's independence while providing protection and financial assistance and/or social services to those who must remain dependent. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472). Additional selections may be made from this announcement if identical vacancies occur in the same location within 90 days from the closing date.
