Medical Technician (Clinical Services)

Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests/examinations as requested by medical staff for use in clinical diagnosis, patient screening and monitoring patient therapy. Performs preventive maintenance. periodic inspection and performance testing of equipment and instruments with the maintenance of appropriate records. Withdraws appropriate quantities of blood by vein punctures and capillary puncture, instructs patients and/or hospital personnel in the collection process of the specimen. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience For positions at GS-4 and above:
(a) Technical medical laboratory support work such as performing laboratory tests and examinations (chemical, microbiologic, hematologic and blood banking) and preparing reports of findings or (b) technical support work in a closely related field,, e.g., biological technician work, that required application of the methods and techniques for the position to be filled. or Education and Training For GS-5:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects appropriate to the position to be filled. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM

Minimum Qualifications for GS-5:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level OR 4-year education course of study above the high school level leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples include performing a variety of standardized tests and examinations under normal technical supervision. Following written procedures which give carefully detailed instructions on each step of the assigned test and examinations including the techniques and procedures. Performing phlebotomy services, both finger sticks and adult venipunctures. Determining correct blood specimen for each test ordered. Minimum Qualifications for GS-6:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples include a working knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices appropriate to medical technology and their practical application to clinical laboratory work. Skill in calibrating and operating analytical instruments sufficient to independently perform recurring tests and analyses. Understanding of related disciplines such as microbiology, chemistry, physiology, anatomy and their relationship to medical technology. Minimum Qualifications for GS-7:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples include a thorough understanding and extensive knowledge of the methods, techniques and practices appropriate to medical technology and their practical application to clinical laboratory work. Skill in calibrating and operating analytical instruments sufficient to independently perform recurring tests and analyses. Understanding of related disciplines such as microbiology, chemistry, physiology, anatomy and their relationship to medical technology. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
